When I move out of El Poblado, I'm going unfurnished. Did the math on what it'd cost to furnish a 1BR from zero (basics only, IKEA-equivalent quality):

• Bed + mattress: $400-600
• Couch (used or budget): $200-400
• Dining table + 2 chairs: $150-250
• Kitchen basics (set + pots/pans): $150
• Linens, towels, kitchen utensils: $100-150

Total: $1,000-1,550 USD. Versus paying $200/mo premium for furnished = furnished pays for itself in 8 months. Going unfurnished only makes sense if you're staying 12+ months.
